History
1950 Anglican Communion's Church of India Pakistan Burma Ceylon General Council at that time Metropolitan Bishop Dr. Arvind Nath Mukherjee (Calcutta Diocese) announced the establishment of Barrackpore Diocese by dividing the proposed East Bengal Diocese in 1944. On 14th October 1951, Bishop Dr. Ronald Winston Bryan was ordained as the first bishop and worked towards the creation of Barrackpore Diocese. Finally, after five to six years of hard work, he became Barrackpore. Able to shape the Diocese and on 26th August 1956 Barrackpore Diocese was declared - "A Diocese In the making, Barrackpore Diocese is Born". On the 29th November 1970 the Church Of North India (CNI) was inaugurated and the Diocese Of Barrackpore joined in it. . Presently the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Barrackpore covers four civil district's of west Bengal, India. The district is North 24 Pargana, Nadia, Murshidabad, South 24 Pargana.
